Whoever said that being a mom is a full time job, wasn't kidding. It used to be that Mike and I would come home from work, have dinner, tell each other about how the day went at work, watch a movie or hang out with some friends, check our email, and go to sleep. Not anymore: Mike takes an early train home, goes to the daycare, picks up Celeste, and the two of them pick me up from the train (Celeste is usually napping in the car seat at this time). As soon as we get home, Celeste is up, and we play with her as we grab a bite to eat, then Mike does some "tummy time" with the little princess in the baby gym while I wash bottles, and after that, the three of us do our favorite activity of the day: Bath Time! While I dress Celeste for bed, Mike heats up the bottle I prepared earlier, and as soon as Celeste is dressed and is ready for feeding, the bottle appears in my hands! We eat, burp, change diaper, finish eating, burp, and go to sleep. I tell ya, we have it down to a science now, thanks to the book I refer to as my Bible, called "The New Contented Little Baby Book" by Gina Ford, which helped me set up a schedule for our family that really works. So yeah, there's never a dull moment in our household, at each point in the day, we have something going on.
Being a mom is a feeling unlike any other. The little angel really puts everything in perspective. I can now talk for hours to my girlfriends about Celeste's bodily functions, eating & sleeping habits, and developmental milestones. My favorite reading material is the daily report we receive from daycare, which details what times and how long she slept, how much and at what times she ate, and diaper usage, along with associated time of each event. Life is all about Celeste, but that's just fine with me. After all, there's nothing nearly as precious in the world as her.
Tummy Time with daddy :)
