The beginning...

In July 2006, I had an interest in becoming a surrogate. So I requested information from two separate agencies. After thinking about it for a few days, we realized we may have oopsed and could be pregnant ourselves. After finding out we weren't, Felix and I decided to try to have another child of our own. After three months of no luck, I still felt a calling to be a surrogate and help out someone less fortunate. I didn't want to have another child of my own just yet. I wanted to bring the joy of being parents to someone else. I called one of the agencies (the one I was most interested in), and got in to meet with them on October 16th 2006 . I did all the paperwork, etc. I received an email a few days later saying I was accepted to be a surrogate at their agency.

Now the part of waiting came in. I was contacted with three separate couples looking for a surrogate over the next two months. Dec 12th 2006, the third email came in, after reading over their questionaire, I had a lot of questions about them. I felt they just wanted me to carry a child and give it to them at the end, and not really have any relationship or ties with me. I didn't have a feeling in my heart to work with them, so I sent a few emails to the agency asking questions, trying to get answers and a better understanding about them. About a hour after receiving the email about the third couple, I received another email with a fourth couple. I read over their questionaire, and looked at their pics. Immediately I knew these were the people I set out on this journey for. They sounded amazing. They were so heartfelt, and down to earth in their answers. Exactly what I was looking for! I instantly emailed my agency back saying I was interested!! I got on the phone with my Mom and another call to my husband telling them the news and how excited I was about this couple.

So the next few days went by, I looked at their pictures some more and read over the questionaire. I talked more and more about it with my Mom and Felix. Monday Dec 18th 2006, I received a phone call asking when was a good time for a conference call. I was so excited yet so nervous at the same time. I couldn't wait to talk to them, hear their voices, and begin getting to know these two wonderful people.

On Dec 20th 2006, the day had arrived. At 1pm PST, we spoke on the phone, and it went amazingly well. We talked about our families, and got to know each other a lil bit. We both knew we wanted to go into this together before the conversation was over, we didn't even need to think about it. The agency had emailed us both with each others contact information before the call was over. I received a wonderful email from them about 20 minutes after the call ended! It meant so much to receive an email thanking me for doing this for them!

I am so excited about this lifelong journey I am embarking on.
